A Toast to the Beginning - but really to all the people who help get us there.
Last weekend, we threw open the doors of Fritto Misto Comune and raised a glass to the many hands, hearts, and curious minds who helped bring this little dream to life.
It wasn’t a launch party in the traditional sense—no speeches, no big countdowns. Just a warm afternoon gathering of the incredible people who showed up, lent a hand, shared an idea, poured a drink, swung a hammer, or simply said, “Yes, keep going.” And that’s exactly what this project has always been about—community, collaboration, and connection.
We were lucky to be joined by some of our favourite local businesses. The go-to restaurant that feeds our souls, the wine shop that always delivers something interesting, our beloved beer bar, and the team behind the town’s best cocktail bar. The bakery we adore rolled through, too, because what’s a celebration without bread?
But beyond the food and drinks (which were exceptional), what really made the day special were the people. Fabriano is full of creative, open-hearted souls, people who care deeply about this town and want to see it thrive. From photographers to small business owners, designers to food lovers, the courtyard buzzed with ideas and energy.
We also had the joy of celebrating the builders and tradies who worked tirelessly (and occasionally chaotically) on this renovation. Months of broken Italian, loud voices, wild hand gestures, and a general disregard for punctuality, so basically, business as usual. If you’ve worked with tradies anywhere in the world, you’ll understand. Somehow, we made it work. With laughs. And snacks. And wine.
It was also the first time Team Fritto Misto Comune was properly under one roof—Karin (creative direction), Elizabeth (orto and artistic projects), and me, your slightly stubborn but endlessly hopeful host. And you know what we discovered? We love working together. We love dreaming and doing. We want to keep going—building spaces, curating experiences, welcoming people in.
We’re proud of this first chapter. The apartments feel exactly how we hoped, warm and welcoming, filled with light, personality, and a deep sense of place. It’s not perfect. It’s better. It’s real. It’s ready.
Now all we need….
Is a few bookings and the next wild idea…..
