In Good Company: Our Favourite Fabriano Collaborators-WOODEN

Fabriano might be known for its paper, but what makes this town truly rich is its people.

As part of the Fritto Misto Comune project, we’re shining a light on some of the local businesses, makers, and creatives who inspire us, keep us well fed and properly caffeinated, and remind us why we chose this special town in Le Marche to call home.

In this ongoing series, we ask a few simple questions to the people behind our favourite spots in Fabriano (and nearby): from restaurants and bars to bakeries and design stores. The interviews are concise, insightful, and engaging—think of them as postcards from the people who make Fabriano tick.

The Marchigiani are warm, humble, rooted, resourceful, and quietly proud.

Here’s what we’re asking each collaborator:

  1. What are three things you love about Fabriano?

  2. What do you think visitors should absolutely do, see, or eat while they’re here?

  3. What makes your space or work feel special to you?

We’ll also share a bit about each place—how we discovered it, why we love it, and how you can find them while staying with us.

Wooden Bar Fabriano: A Cocktail Bar with Soul

The first feature in this series is none other than Wooden Bar Fabriano, one of the best-kept secrets in town. Tucked into a quiet corner of Piazza Garibaldi, Wooden was one of the first places I gravitated to after moving to Fabriano, and it helped me decide to stay. Its magnetic vibe, soulful soundtrack, and warm hospitality made it an instant favourite.

What first drew me in? The music. On an evening walk—una passeggiata—after the heat of the day had lifted, I heard jazz, blues, reggae, and even 90s hip-hop drifting through the streets. I followed the sound and discovered this gem of a place, where ex-corporate professionals had left behind the daily grind to follow their passion: making incredible drinks, playing great music, and building a community.

The cocktails are made with precision and care, the menu celebrates Italian comfort food, and the people—Augusto, Laura, and Frederica—are warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to Fabriano.

We asked them our favourite three questions, and here’s what they said:

1. What are three things you love about Fabriano?

  • Laura: Walking the historic streets, the nature and hills that surround us, and the climate—snow in winter, beaches in summer - but it’s our secret :)

  • Augusto: The people I work with, the surrounding nature, and of course... Wooden, I got to work and do all the things I love.

  • Frederica: The calm. It’s a quiet town, and you get to know everyone. We agree that Frederica knows everyone; she is so kind and friendly.

2. What do you think visitors should absolutely do, see, or eat while they’re here?

  • Laura: Take a walk in the hills, visit San Silvestro Monastery, and eat the local salami.

  • Augusto: Try the Marchigiano fritto misto—the ingredients change with the seasons. You can find versions of fritto misto on a few menus for local restaurants (or you could put your own together back at Fritto Misto Comune:))

3. What makes your space or work feel special to you?

  • Laura: It’s a reflection of us—it’s our mirror.

  • Augusto: The vibe. It’s friendly and full of energy. And the music—it’s 99% my playlist.

  • Frederica: The conviviality, both among our team and the people who visit.

Why We Love It

Whether you’re in town for the Fabriano Jazz Festival, the Palio di San Giovanni, or simply passing through, Wooden is the kind of place where everyone feels welcome, locals, visitors, families, creatives, and lovers of a good Negroni. They host live music nights, DJ sets, and community events all year round.

If you’re planning a trip to Fabriano or looking for a place to enjoy a great drink in town, make sure to stop by Wooden Bar Fabriano—one of the best spots for cocktails and local atmosphere in the region.

Let them know you’re staying at Fritto Misto Comune, and you’ll be welcomed like an old friend.

It’s places like this that reflect the true spirit of Le Marche, where community, quality, and creativity come together. Whether you're here for an event or to unwind, Wooden is a must-visit (more than once if possible)

We hope these snapshots offer a little more colour and connection to your stay in Fabriano—and maybe even a few new local favourites of your own.
